Latigo is hired to rid the town of feared gunslinger Jug May (Jack Elam), and the fun begins. Elam, always good, is at his best. Despite the title, director, and cast, this is not a sequel to "Support Your Local Sheriff."

This delightful take-off of the tried-and-true Western has it all. McCullough appoints town drunk Jake (Jack Elam) as his deputy and arrests Joe Danby (Bruce Dern). Now, the rest of the Danby gang–led by Pa Danby (Walter Brennan)–are determined to free Joe and rid the town of their new sheriff. And while all this is going on, McCullough is being pursued by the fair maiden Prudy Perkins (Joan Hackett) who is determined to marry the sheriff.
