  This story takes place in Paris just before World War I begins. On the day Archduke Ferdinand is assassinated, a soldier, Georges (Claude Giraud), lusts after and ends up in the bedrooms of a full circle of women–beginning with a prostitute (Marie Dubois), then Rose (Anna Karina), and finally housewife Sophie (Jane Fonda) before ending the circle with the prostitute.

They find the commune, and our heroine experiences a new lifestyle to her liking. Musical score by Pink Floyd.
