  Remember the famous Chariot Race where one of the extras forgot to take off his watch? That seems to be the only flaw in this epic film that won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture. Charlton Heston also won for Best Actor as the Jewish Prince Judah Ben-Hur whose life story is told in tandem with the life of Jesus. Other Oscars included Best Director and Supporting Actor (Hugh Griffith).

  This film is a comedy about Capt. Henry St. James (Alec Guinness) who is the captain of a steamer sailing regularly between Gibraltar and North Africa. He solves the problem of loneliness when away from home by having two wives. Maude (Celia Johnson) lives in Gibraltar, and Nita (Yvonne De Carlo) is in Tangiers. Problems rise to the fore when both women change their minds about the way they want to live, and Henry is left with no wives.

  People traveling to a British trading post in India are disappearing, and cargo is stolen. Lewis finds that a religious cult, the Stranglers, that performs crazed rituals, is responsible for capturing travelers and stealing their money as the cult wreaks havoc on the area around Bombay.
