Tracy and his sidekick Pat Patton (Lyle Latell) are in pursuit, and the end comes when The Claw accidentally gets hooked on a live wire from a trolley and electrocutes himself.

When Walter tells Marsha the story, she convinces him to return to San Francisco, and Walter agrees. He returns to comfort Irene and finds himself charged with murder.

The inn is closed for the winter, and Magee has what he believes is the only key to the front door. As the evening sets in, strange characters appear with their own keys to the door. They come and go, murders take place, and Magee becomes involved in solving the mystery.
