  Chucky is six-year-old Andy Barclay's (Alex Vincent) new doll; however, Chucky is possessed by the soul of a dead murderer (Brad Dourif), which leads to the terrorization of Andy through Chucky's evil deeds. Murders take place, and when Andy tells people that Chucky did it, no one pays attention. Andy's mother Karen (Catherine Hicks) asks Detective Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon) to investigate. Because Mike is romantically interested in Karen, he agrees even though he does not believe Andy's stories–until Chucky starts to strangle him. Sequels follow.

  Tenacious narcotics cop Detective Rita Rizzo (Whoopi Goldberg) is on the trail of drug kingpin Conrad Kroll (Harris Yulin), but, after problems arise, she is taken off the case. Small-time dealers Leo Nova and Earl Skinner (Brad Dourif and Mike Jolly) have hijacked the drug "Fatal Beauty" and have a problem: they do not know that "Fatal Beauty" has been contaminated, is poisonous, and is killing people. Now, Rizzo goes undercover posing as a prostitute, but Kroll has assigned Mike Marshak (Sam Elliott) to keep an eye on Rita, and he becomes her companion as she hunts down Nova and Skinner.

  What would you do if a vampire (Chris Sarandon) moved into the house next door? That is what happened to Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) who happens to have an over-active imagination brought on by watching late-night horror movies. No one believes Charley when he tells them about the vampire. Charley's girlfriend Amy (Amanda Bearse) doesn't believe him, thinks he is crazy, and then falls under the vampire's spell. Charley then gets help from Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) who once acted in horror films but is now the host of a TV show "Friday Night."   When defense lawyer Martin Strang (Milburn Stone) suspects that his wife Lucille (Katherine DeMille) is having an affair with court psychiatrist Dr. James Anderson (Paul Guilfoyle), he plots to have her killed. First, he writes a will giving his money to the families who have been hurt by the criminals he defended. Then, he defends William Jackson (Paul Guilfoyle) on a murder charge, wins his freedom, but then is murdered by Jackson. His plan has backfired, but evidence points to Lucile and Dr. Anderson as the murderers. When they are arrested, Anderson kills himself. That act leaves Lucille–who has been left destitute by Martin's will–all alone in the world.
