Genre: Drama
Director: Ali Selim
Cast: Elizabeth Reaser, Tim Guinee, Alan Cumming, John Heard, Alex Kingston, Ned Beatty, Lois Smith, Tom Gilroy, Patrick Heusinger, Paul Sand, Jodie Markell, Sage Kermes

"Sweet Land" begins with elderly Inge (Lois Smith) burying her husband, Olaf (Tim Guinee), in Minnesota's farm country. She relates the story of her past when, as a young German, Inge (Elizabeth Reaser) arrived in Minnesota during 1920 as a mail-order bride for Olaf. There were major problems with the planned marriage: Inge was German and a socialist, and Norwegian/American Olaf and his Norwegian farming neighbors had problems accepting a woman from the country with which America had just fought a war. Even the Lutheran Minister Sorrensen (John Heard) refused to marry them. These and other trials and tribulations of immigration rise to the fore, but as time passes the love story of Inge and Olaf ends happily.
