  Sociopath Lee Ray Oliver (Ray Liotta) is about to pay the ultimate price for the brutal murders he committed. But rather than receive a lethal injection, he received a strong sedative that put him into a deep sleep. After being pronounced dead, he awakens later to find that he is getting a second chance IF he participates in an experimental mood-changing experiment to cure a person of criminal instincts. He is given a new name and sent to a small town to start a new life. But old habits are hard to break, despite the medications.
