In this fun, football saga, quarterback hero Dodge Connolly's (George Clooney) 1925 football team, the Duluth Bulldogs, loses its sponsor, and the league is in a state of collapse. Dodge sees a solution in World War I war hero Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski) and convinces him to join the team. Now, fans flock to the field to see Carter play. Cub reporter Lexie Littleton (Renee Zellweger) enters the picture because she is suspicious of Carter's wartime heroics and starts digging for a story. Meanwhile, both Dodge and Carter become romantically interested in Lexie and now are competing both on and off the field using similar strategies in the game of love that they use in football.

The program trained soldiers to fight with their minds and negate the need for armed combat. The First Earth Battalion was disbanded after a power struggle between Django and Larry Hooper (Kevin Spacey), but Cassady and Wilton discover that their psychological methods are still being used in the war against terror.
