What's Eating Gilbert Grape 1993 PG-13, 118 min. Genre: Comedy / Drama / Romance

Gilbert Grape (Johnny Depp) lives with his very fat–500 lbs.–momma (Darlene Cates), retarded brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio), and two teenage sisters Ellen and Amy (Mary Kate Schellhardt and Laura Harrington) in the Grape family home and has more than his share of problems dealing with his very dysfunctional family. When he is not spending time having an affair with housewife Betty Carver (Mary Steenburgen), Gilbert stocks shelves at a grocery store and hangs around with Bobby (Crispin Glover) and Tucker (John C. Reilly). Now, Becky (Juliette Lewis) and her grandmother (Penelope Branning) arrive in town, and Becky opens up Gilbert's eyes to the value of considering his own happiness, which will, of course, disrupt his obligations to family and to Betty as well. DiCaprio was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. 3 User Reviews

| | Anonymous 10/08/2009 | | A very good movie ... Leonardo DiCaprio is just adorable in this movie .. and I think Johnny depp is to die for. Worth seeing at least once .. if not many time like I have. |
| | fringedweller 03/06/2007 | | I haven't seen this movie since it came out (1993). That's a long time ago, so I can't get down with details, but wanted to say that I felt deeply involved while watching Gilbert Grape, and I found myself thinking about this movie for many weeks afterwards. Definitley worth the time and money. |
| | Anonymous 01/20/2007 | | I assure you that I've never seen this movie, and I've never heard anything about it until now in the tiny summary above, but it sounds pretty good. It sounds adorably funny and some great actors are in it, so I am very sure I will watch it soon. I'll post something about it as soon as I see it. |
