  The Baskerville family may have a curse on it in the form of a hound, and Dr. Mortimer (Alastair Duncan) asks Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) to investigate the death of the late Sir Charles Baskerville in order to prevent the new heir, his nephew Sir Henry (Kristoffer Tabori), from suffering the same fate. Holmes sends his assistant Dr. John Watson (Edward Hardwicke) to Baskerville Hall to look into the issue while Holmes performs his own investigation and realizes that someone in the family is ensuring that the curse continues.

  Dr. Mortimer (Denholm Elliott) hires Sherlock Holmes (Ian Richardson) to investigate the murder of Sir Charles Baskerville. Mortimer tells Holmes that 350 years ago Hugo Baskerville traded his soul to the devil, and all of his ancestors have fallen under a curse and have been murdered when they inherited the Baskerville dynasty. Mortimer wants to protect the new heir, Sir Henry (Martin Shaw), from suffering the same fate. Holmes sends Dr. Watson (Donald Churchill) to investigate while Holmes, unbeknownst to Watson, arrives on the scene disguised as a gypsy to find the culprit.

Holmes sends his assistant, Dr. Watson (Andre Morell) to the Baskerville estate on the Devonshire moors to look for clues. Meanwhile, Holmes hides in the moors gathering information, and, almost too late, Watson and Holmes save Sir Henry from the fate that his father suffered.
