  Accepting an unusual birthday gift–for the "man who has everything"–from his brother Conrad (Sean Penn), wealthy recluse Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) enters the live-action "Game," a real-life game designed by Consumer Recreation Services. Nicholas' ordered lifestyle is turned upside down when he becomes deeply involved in the game and begins to suspect that his particular game is an attempt to steal his fortune, drive him insane, and even kill him.

  Contemporary Los Angeles is the setting for O2's (Tyrese Gibson) trials and tribulations, which take place after he realizes that his son, Junior (Henry Hunter Hall), has been kidnapped during a carjacking and is now in the hands of the Outlaw Syndicate, which is run by Meat (The Game). O2 forces street hustler Coco (Meagan Good) to help, and the duo sets out through Los Angeles neighborhoods using any means possible to obtain the $100,000 ransom needed to get Junior's freedom.
