Seattle Detective Daniel Pruitt (Johnathon Schaech) and his wife, Jessica (Elizabeth Lackey), are enjoying a camping trip in a nearby forest when Jessica is sexually assaulted. On the way to the hospital, their car collides with a semi, and Jessica insists that the driver is the assailant. In a fit of rage, Daniel severely assaults the driver. At the hospital, Jessica now insists that a male nurse is the assailant. Things get worse for Daniel when the truck driver dies, and it turns out that the man was the son of tough Sheriff McKenna (James Caan) who is Daniel's boss. Furthermore, Daniel is put on the case to solve the murder.

Chris (Desmond Harrington) makes a wrong choice when he avoids a traffic jam by taking a West Virginia mountain road. He comes across a disabled SUV carrying five teens on a camping trip. But a barbed-wire barrier had been placed across the road, and all tires are flat. Chris, Jessie (Eliza Dushku), and two of her friends head out to find help while two stay behind. What they find is a filthy cabin with human remains. What they don't know is that three deformed (from generations of inbreeding) mountain men are on their way home to the cabin.
