"A Streetcar Named Desire" is playing, and Harry, who has the role of Stanley Kowalski, is presently adapting his real life personality to reflect that of the impassioned "Stanley." At the same time, Helene Shaw (Susan Sarandon) has moved to town and wins the role of "Stella" playing opposite Harry. Helene falls in love with Harry–not knowing that Harry's real personality is the exact opposite from that of "Stanley."
