Commander Laird Grainger (Sonny Tufts) and his space ship co-pilot Kip Reissner (Victor Jory) take off for an expedition to the "back" side of the moon. When they land on the moon, they discover an underground empire of women, led by Alpha (Carol Brewster). They are the last members of an old civilization, and, after hypnotizing Helen, they plot to learn how to operate the ship so that they can steal it and head for Earth.
