Strange things are happening in San Francisco, and archaeologist Lloyd Walker (Gil Bellows) and entomologist Marianne Winters (Suleka Mathew) are investigating when they come across an underground colony of insect-like creatures that are planning to enslave mankind. Now Walker finds himself in an all-out effort to save the human race and puts together clues that link the creatures to William Phillips (Campbell Scott) who is the sole survivor of a space mission and is being held captive. Will Walker find Phillips in time to save humanity? And, where exactly does Liz (Daryl Hannah), who is an employee at the mayor's office, really fit into the picture?
