  The ancient Anglo-Saxon poem, "Beowulf," is brought to the screen with Gerard Butler in the role of Norse warrior leader Beowulf. The drunken King Hrothgar (Stellan Skarsgard) asks Beowulf to rid Mead Hall of the beastly troll, Grendel (Ingvar Eggert Sigurdsson), who has been killing off King Hrothgar's warriors.
