Jealous of his father Samson's (voice of Kiefer Sutherland) ability to attract attention with his majestic roar, lion cub Ryan (voice of Richard Kind) escapes from Manhattan's Central Park Zoo and stows away on a ship heading for Africa. This forces Samson and his animal friends to form a rescue party. Their mission is to find Samson, but, once in Africa, they head right into the midst of wildebeast leader Kazar (voice of William Shatner) who has plans to move the wildebeasts to the top of the food chain.
