  Set in 1964, this is the story of teens–Preach (Glynn Turman) and basketball star Cochise (Lawrence-Hilton Jacobs)–who attend Cooley Vocational High School on Chicago's North Side. With friends Willie, Pooter, and Tyrone (Maurice Leon Davis, Corin Rogers, and Joseph Carter Wilson), they express their youthful emotions by pulling harmless scams around their neighborhood. As they end their last year in high school, they overstep their bounds and are falsely accused of stealing a car after taking a joy ride with hoods. This film became the basis for TV's "What's Happening!" series.

  An American fighter squadron encounters an alien spaceship in the Bermuda Triangle, and one plane is shot down. Meanwhile, Dallas' daughter, Lisa (Erica Everage), is contacted by an alien woman (Shelli Lether) who teaches Lisa to use her psychic powers. Lisa is then captured by government agents who want to use her psychic abilities to help in future space flights. Dallas must now attempt to get his daughter back–with the help of the alien.
