Fashion photographer Isabel (Julia Roberts) is dating Luke (Ed Harris), and now she wants to take care of Luke's kids, Anna (Jena Malone) and Ben (Liam Aiken), for the weekend. But these kids have been trained by their mother, Jackie (Susan Sarandon), to resist any new woman in their father's life. Isabel, however, persists in trying to tear down the walls of distrust between them.
