Hannibal eventually finds refuge with his aunt (Gong Li) and, now, as a student in France, Hannibal (now played by Gaspard Ulliel) sets out to fulfill a promise made years ago to Mischa as he tracks down her Lithuanian killers. A trail of severed heads raise the suspicions of Inspector Popil (Dominic West) who, in turn, tries to stop Hannibal.
