Based on his off-Broadway play, this is writer/star John Cameron Mitchell's story about a transsexual, Hedwig Schmidt (John Cameron Mitchell), who is touring America with her rock band playing the Bilgewater Inns' family restaurants. During the performances, Hedwig wittily muses about the circumstances behind a life choice for surgery to change him from a boy into a girl. Great music, great humor, great film.
