Dillinger and Capone   1995     2 stars    R, 94 min.
Genre: Action
Director: Jon Purdy
Cast: Martin Sheen, F. Murray Abraham, Stephen Davies, Catherine Hicks, Don Stroud, Jeffrey Combs, Bert Remsen, Michael C. Gwynne, Clint Howard, Sasha Jenson

To make this film work you must assume that it really wasn't John Dillinger (Martin Sheen) who was shot outside the Biograph Theater, but rather his brother. Then, it makes sense that when Al Capone (F. Murray Abraham) is released from prison several years later and wants someone to recover the millions he has stashed away in the bank, he would turn to John. Of course Capone holds Dillinger's family hostage to ensure the heist is carried out.

The Hanoi Hilton   1987     bomb    R, 126 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Lionel Chetwynd
Cast: Michael Moriarty, Paul Le Mat, David Soul, Jeffrey Jones, Lawrence Pressman, Stephen Davies, Aki Aleong

U.S. prisoners of war in Vietnam called their prison "the Hanoi Hilton." This is a rather poor attempt to tell the story of their ordeals.

Inserts   1975     1 star    N/R, 100 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: John Byrum
Cast: Richard Dreyfuss, Jessica Harper, Stephen Davies, Veronica Cartwright, Bob Hoskins

This film only gets its star because of the presence of Richard Dreyfuss. The story centers on a down-on-his-luck director in the 1930s who makes porno films to survive.

The Long Hot Summer   1985     3 stars    TV, 200 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Stuart Cooper
Cast: Don Johnson, Jason Robards, Judith Ivey, Cybill Shepherd, Ava Gardner, William Russ, Wings Hauser, Albert Hall, William Forsythe, Stephen Davies

This made-for-TV remake of the 1958 classic is pretty good. Taken from Faulkner's story "The Hamlet," it tells the story of sex and sin in a small Southern town.

Cast: Robert Lansing, Lisa Langlois, Franc Luz, Terri Treas, Stephen Davies, Diana Bellamy, Jack Collins, Nancy Morgan, Jeff Winkless, Steve Tannen

Yes, another experiment fails, and the result is an army of gross, hungry cockroaches that descend on a New England island. Lots of people-munchin' going on.
