Dillinger and Capone 1995 R, 94 min. Genre: Action
Director: Jon Purdy Cast: Martin Sheen, F. Murray Abraham, Stephen Davies, Catherine Hicks, Don Stroud, Jeffrey Combs, Bert Remsen, Michael C. Gwynne, Clint Howard, Sasha Jenson
To make this film work you must assume that it really wasn't John Dillinger (Martin Sheen) who was shot outside the Biograph Theater, but rather his brother. Then, it makes sense that when Al Capone (F. Murray Abraham) is released from prison several years later and wants someone to recover the millions he has stashed away in the bank, he would turn to John. Of course Capone holds Dillinger's family hostage to ensure the heist is carried out.

This made-for-TV remake of the 1958 classic is pretty good. Taken from Faulkner's story "The Hamlet," it tells the story of sex and sin in a small Southern town.
