The cousins greatly resemble each other, and Captain Fritz von Tarlenheim (David Niven) and Colonel Zapt (C. Aubrey Smith) take Rudolph to the Prince's hunting lodge where they meet. The next day, it is discovered that the Prince has been kidnapped, and now Rudolph becomes involved in palace intrigue and romance–with the Prince's fiancee Princess Flavia (Madeleine Carroll)–when he is asked to impersonate the Prince.

  Archaeologist Prof. Dean Lambert (Harold Lloyd) is scheduled to go on trial, but there is a delay in the court proceedings, and he will miss an expedition to Egypt if he waits. Instead, he skips bail and heads out from Los Angeles to New York City. And the chase is on when he hops a train for the trip to New York during which he evades police, meets and is attracted to Jane (Phyllis Welch), and has adventures with hoboes.

  This film picks up where the original "Topper" left off (without Cary Grant, except in a flashback). Cosmo Topper's (Roland Young) wife Clara (Billie Burke) heads to France, intending to divorce Cosmo, thinking that he had an affair with Marion Kerby (Constance Bennett), who was, in reality, a ghost trying to do a good deed. Cosmo chases after Clara, hoping to change her mind, and Marion shows up with her ghost dog to help him out. Excellent special effects, especially for the 1930s.
