This is the story of two generations of women. The first is music-hall star Harriet Green (Jessie Matthews), who retires from show business to marry a marquis. When blackmailed before her marriage, she leaves for South America. Years later, after Harriet's death, her daughter (also played by Jessie Matthews) poses as her own mother. Problems occur when she meets the marquis.
