  John Carradine is at his spooky best as he plays deranged killer Gaston Morel, a deranged killer of beautiful women. Morel is an artist who picks up models, paints their pictures, and then kills them. He meets his match in a clever young woman (Jean Parker) who learns about Morel's crimes and is determined to bring him to justice.

Hamlet-like plot in modern (1945) setting	darknessatnoon 01/10/2007
Quite enjoyed it... not quite film noir... moves well... mostly plausible... framing device is hokily done (but so was Bill's)... cast looks familiar from 1950s TV Superman series.
