After Columbia University colleagues Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, and Dr. Egon Spengler (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis) lose their jobs at the university, they set up their own shop in New York City and offer their clients the service of Ghostbusters–ridding property of supernatural residents. Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) hires the Ghostbusters to investigate strange things that have been happening in her Central Park apartment. The Ghostbusters arrive on the scene and discover that Dana's apartment is the entryway to the spirit world of ghosts intent on terrorizing the citizens of New York City. Now, the Ghostbusters set out to rid the city of more than a few slimy creatures.
