  In the 1960s, Detroit's Wayne State University Electrical Engineering professor, Robert Kearns (Greg Kinnear), has invented the intermittent windshield wiper. Kearns and his friend Gil Previck (Dermot Mulroney) take the prototype to the Ford motor company, but the company says they are not interested. Just a few years later, Ford proceeds to install the wipers on their new models. Kearns sues the company, and the litigation goes on for years. Finally, Kearns is awarded $30 million, but he loses his mind and his wife Phyllis (Lauren Graham) and family in the process.

  It's been five years since the gates of Hell were opened and shut, and Terry (Louis Tripp) is the only one of the original protagonists left in town. It works, and one of the small demons appears. At first, things are great as wishes are granted, but things go sour and Terry must again fight the creatures while trying to re-close the gate.
