Bertram (Robert Lindsay), a math wizard and accountant at a large London firm, meets and falls in love with American Cary (Molly Ringwald). It isn't long before they make wedding plans, and his boss (John Gielgud), impressed with Bertram's skills, offers to pay for a honeymoon in Monte Carlo. Unfortunately, the boss is absent minded and forgets about the couple. Before long they are in need of money, and Bertram uses his skills to come up with a mathematical scheme to win at roulette. Soon they are VERY rich, turning Bertram into a power-hungry man, and predictable events follow.
