Although this is a romanticized version of opera star Enrico Caruso's (Mario Lanza) life, the music of Mario Lanza and Ann Blyth makes this film very enjoyable. The story follows Caruso from his birth in Naples through his youth as a choir singer, then cabaret singer, and finally as an opera star at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. Caruso falls in love with Dorothy (Ann Blyth), and, despite her father's (Carl Benton Reid) objections, they marry and live happily until Caruso dies when he is just 47 years old.

Under truth serum, he tells of how he was captured by aliens and brainwashed; the aliens were after the secrets. Of course, no one believes him, so after the brainwashing wears off (!), he takes matters into his own hands and wipes out the aliens.
