Burt Reynolds does a great job as a veteran safe-cracker who encounters a young hoodlum while robbing a wealthy home and decides to teach him his art. The two form a partnership of sorts and plan on stealing the Fourth of July take of an amusement park. A clever, well done film.

Meanwhile, Gabby's father (Andre Gregory) walks around in the nude, and her grandmother (Lila Kedrova) mistakes Michael for her deceased husband. A bizarre holiday, for sure.

His three lazy children, in their twenties but living off Stewart's success, also ridicule him. So, he gives them each $750 and sends them to the old building to make it on their own. The young ones seem to achieve success by bringing in boarders, but, meanwhile, Stewart's business heads downhill.
