Pampered Hollywood stunt dog Rexxx gets lost and wanders into the life of 12-year-old Shane (Josh Hutcherson) whose father is the widowed fire chief Connor Fahey (Bruce Greenwood). Rexxx rescues a firefighter, becomes a neighborhood hero, and his act of heroism saves the fire station from being shut down. Shane and Rexxx join forces to track down an arsonist, but problems lie ahead when Rexxx's former owner (Dash Mihok) tracks him down and wants to have him back at work as a stunt dog.
