A Christmas Carol 1999 TV, 95 min. Genre: Family / Drama / Fantasy
Director: David Hugh Jones Cast: Patrick Stewart, Richard E. Grant, Joel Grey, Ian McNeice, Saskia Reeves, Desmond Barrit, Bernard Lloyd, Dominic West, Trevor Peacock, Liz Smith, Claire Slater, Ben Tibber, Elizabeth Spriggs, Kenny Doughty, Laura Fraser
Patrick Stewart makes an excellent Ebenezer Scrooge in this fine TV adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic Christmas story. After visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past (Joel Grey), Present (Desmond Barrit), and Future (Tim Potter), Scrooge re-evaluates his treatment of Tiny Tim (Ben Tibber) and and his family. It ranks among the best of the several film renditions.

Dune 2000 TV, 280 min. Genre: Sci-Fi aka: Frank Herbert's Dune
Director: John Harrison Cast: William Hurt, Alec Newman, Saskia Reeves, James Watson, Jan Vlasak, Barbora Kodetova, P.H. Moriarty, Robert Russell, Laura Burton, Ian McNeice
Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel is brought to the screen for the second time–the first, in 1984, failed to capture the magnitude of the story. This one is not much better, but, as a TV miniseries nearly five hours long, it at least embraces some of the epic nature of the novel. The story concerns the quest for spice, and there is plenty of it on the barren planet Dune (though the story covers several planets and cultures). 1 User Review

Heart 1999 N/R, 85 min. Genre: Drama
Director: Charles McDougall Cast: Christopher Eccleston, Saskia Reeves, Kate Hardie, Rhys Ifans, Anna Chancellor, Bill Paterson, Matthew Rhys, Jack Deam, Kate Rutter, Nicholas Moss
Gary (Christopher Eccleston) sits in a wheelchair awaiting a new heart after a heart attack, and is convinced that his wife, Tess (Kate Hardie), is having an affair (which she is). When a teen is killed in an accident, Gary gets his heart. Upon recovery, Tess lets him know she is leaving, and, to complicate his life, the teen's mother (Saskia Reeves) becomes infatuated with Gary. The mother wants to be near the man who has her son's heart. A lackluster thriller.
