Race the Sun   1996     1 and a half stars    PG, 90 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Charles T. Kanganis
Cast: Halle Berry, James Belushi, Bill Hunter, Casey Affleck, Eliza Dushku, Kevin Tighe, Anthony Ruivivar, J. Moki Cho, Sara Tanaka, Steve Zahn

Sandra (Halle Berry) takes a job as a teacher of science in a Hawaiian high school. She is assigned a group of misfits, but with her inspiration the diverse class builds a solar car, which wins the Hawaii championship race and gets to go to the world championships in Australia. Family fare that boasts of good scenery is the only virtue in this otherwise oft-told storyline. Loosely based on a true story.
