  Auto factory worker Frank Taylor (Humphrey Bogart) is a hard worker who wants to become a foreman. Now hatred takes over, and Frank is recruited to join a secret White supremacist organization, The Black Legion. Frank and the Legion members burn down the Dombrowski family's chicken farm, and the family leaves town. Frank now gets the job of foreman, but tragedies lie ahead–beginning with his wife Ruth (Erin O'Brien-Moore) leaving when his job and the atrocities he commits with the Black Legion take up most of his time. Now, matters go from bad to worse as murder and a prison sentence follow with the Black Legion behind the whole thing.

  This is the true story of Edna Gladney (Greer Garson) who started the Texas Children's Home and Aid Society in Fort Worth. After their baby died in infancy and she couldn't have more children, she decided to start the Children's Home, specializing in illegitimate children (a problem that had hurt her in the past). After her husband's death, Edna became a strong force in changing laws relevant to illegitimacy. The heavy melodrama won an Academy Award for Best Interior Set Decoration and was nominated for three others, including Best Picture and Actress.

McNeal does not believe that Frank is innocent, but when McNeal examines the case, Frank passes a lie detector test showing that he is innocent, and, by the end of McNeal's investigation, Frank gains his freedom.

  Lon Chaney Jr. plays "Dynamo" Dan McCormick who is a carnival side-show performer using his immunity from absorbing large volts of electricity as his act. Dan recuperates at the home of mad scientist Dr. Paul Rigas (Lionel Atwill) where Rigas uses him for experiments and turns Dan into a "man made monster" controlled by Rigas. When Rigas' colleague Dr. John Lawrence (Samuel S. Hinds) wants him to stop the experiment, Rigas orders Dan to kill him. The deed is done, but Dan is arrested and sentenced to the electric chair where he absorbs the electricity and again becomes a superhuman–now ready to seek revenge.

  An amateur painter, Christopher Cross (Edward G. Robinson), is also the henpecked husband of Adele (Rosalind Ivan). Christopher is a sitting duck for extortion when the seductive Kitty March (Joan Bennett) arrives on the scene with big plans for making money off Christopher's art work. Kitty persuades Cross to embezzle money to pay for her apartment. Meanwhile, what Cross does not know is that Kitty's lover is con man Johnny Prince (Dan Duryea), and he is removing Cross' name from the paintings and replacing them with Kitty's name. Now the art work proves successful, and Johnny claims they are Kitty's and makes money off of them. Cross finally catches on, kills Kitty, and then suffers a mental breakdown. This is a remake of Jean Renoir's classic "La Chienne."

  This is a good retelling of Rex Beach's novel, "The Spoilers." Problems rise to the fore when the gold commissioner, Alexander McNamara (Randolph Scott), conspires to take over the rights to the mines in the area. A legal fight appears to be impossible, and the result is a bar-room brawl in which Glennister and McNamara fight for the rights to the mine.
