  A trio of French burglars, led by Daniel Foray (Gerard Depardieu), are sent to Chicago to pull off a jewel heist, but they mistakenly rob Chicago mob boss Frankie (Harvey Keitel). Now the Mafia, FBI, Chicago police, and street gangs are all after the burglars as they try to get back to Paris.

  Soldiers Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) are transporting a missile containing microscopic "nanomites" that are capable of destroying whole cities when their convoy is attacked by the evil Cobra organization, led by the Baroness (Sienna Miller). Duke and Ripcord are rescued by the G.I. Joes–Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), and Breaker (Said Taghmaoui). They take Duke and Ripcord to their base beneath the Sahara Desert where Duke and Ripcord are recruited by General Abernathy (Dennis Quaid) to join their ranks. All goes well–until the Baroness returns, and the chase is on, culminating in Paris where the Eiffel Tower is toppled.

Samir had served as a military advisor to Omar in the past. Now, Omar is part of an international terrorist ring recruiting young Muslims to fight a holy war against the West. FBI agents Roy Clayton (Guy Pearce) and Max Archer (Neal McDonough) offer Samir his freedom if he will talk, but Samir refuses the deal. When Omar's cohorts break him out of jail, Samir joins them, but now Clayton and Archer are on Samir's trail hoping to prevent an attack on American soil.

  United States President Ashton (William Hurt) is at Plaza Major in Madrid when gunshots ring out, and the President falls. Moments later, an explosion creates more havoc in the area. They start with American TV news producer Rex Brooks (Sigourney Weaver) who has been relaying events to viewers around the world. Meanwhile, an American tourist, Howard Lewis (Forest Whitaker), has also captured the scene, including who he thinks is the assassin, on videotape. As Brooks, Lewis, and others reveal their stories, the agents fit new clues from different perspectives into the puzzle while they search for answers about the assassination.
