Director: Alan Parker Cast: Dennis Quaid, Tamlyn Tomita, Sab Shimono, Shizuko Hoshi, Stan Egi, Ronald Yamamoto, Akemi Nishino, Naomi Nakano, Brady Tsurutani, Elizabeth Gilliam
The plight of the Japanese-Americans and the union activists/organizers in the 1930s and 1940s are both highlighted in this love story of union activist Jack (Dennis Quaid) and Japanese-American Lily (Tamlyn Tomita). Against the wishes of her father, Lily marries Jack. When World War II breaks out, Lily, along with many of the Japanese-Americans, is put in an internment camp. Jack, now in the service, goes AWOL and searches the camps for Lily. Not many films have dealt with the treatment of the Japanese-Americans, and this one, though not great, is adequate in its treatment of the subject. 1 User Review
