It is 1957 in California's Mojave Desert, and Ted Lewis (Eric McCormack) spots a shooting star while celebrating an anniversary dinner with his wife Lana (Jody Thompson). Meanwhile, a local diner waitress Tammy (Jenni Baird) looks out her window and sees the same shooting star. But, it really isn't a shooting star. Instead, it is an alien spaceship that crashes in the desert, and the only witnesses are teenagers Dick and Penny (Andrew Dunbar and Sarah Smyth) who are parked on a lovers' lane near the crash site. Urp emerges from the spaceship in pursuit of Ghota–a one-eyed monster that has escaped. In order to neutralize the monster, Urp takes over Ted's body but finds that there is little support from police Chief Dawson (Dan Lauria) or from officer Vernon (Robert Patrick). Now, Urp joins forces with Penny to track down the monster and prevent it from conquering the world.
