When he was a boy, Skeeter Bronson (Thomas Hoffman) worked at his father's motel before he sold it to Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths). Barry agreed that when Skeeter reached adulthood, Barry would hire Skeeter as the manager. Thirty years later, Skeeter (now played by Adam Sandler) is working as a handyman for Barry at his luxury hotel. The management position has not come his way. Matters change after Skeeter spends a week babysitting for his sister Wendy's (Courteney Cox) children Patrick and Bobbi (Jonathan Morgan Heit and Laura Ann Kesling). Skeeter entertains them with bedtime stories in which he fantasizes about a better life. Amazingly, the stories come true, and Skeeter tries to use the stories for his own personal gain. Then he learns that it is the children's contributions to the stories that end up coming true, and Patrick and Bobbi have much to do with Skeeter's good–and bad–fortunes.
