Compulsion 1959 N/R, 102 min. Genre: Drama / Thriller
Director: Richard Fleischer Cast: Dean Stockwell, Bradford Dillman, Orson Welles, Diane Varsi, E.G. Marshall, Martin Milner, Richard Anderson, Ed Binns, Robert F. Simon, Robert Burton, Wilton Graff, Gavin MacLeod, Louise Lorimer, Terry Becker, Russ Bender
This is a fictionalized version of the 1920s' Leopold and Loeb case in which law school students–in this case Artie Straus and Judd Steiner (Bradford Dillman and Dean Stockwell)–carry out the "perfect" murder. The crime was perpetrated solely because they were convinced of their own intellectual superiority and wanted to prove their theory. Their parents hire defense attorney Jonathan Wilk (Orson Welles) because of his reputation for fighting against the death penalty.

When Robert mistakenly places a black pin on a plot that should have been white, the plot-owner dies. This starts a series of MAJOR problems. Good trick photography.

It Conquered the World 1956 N/R, 71 min. Genre: Sci-Fi
Director: Roger Corman Cast: Peter Graves, Beverly Garland, Lee Van Cleef, Sally Fraser, Russ Bender, Jonathan Haze, Dick Miller, Charles B. Griffith
The low budget for this film becomes painfully apparent in its display of special effects. The story is about an alien from Venus that comes to Earth intent on dominating the planet. At first, it is aided by a confused scientist, Tom Anderson (Lee Van Cleef), who later "sees the light"–thanks to fellow scientist Dr. Paul Nelson (Peter Graves). 2 User Reviews

| | Only 2 Stars??? | Anonymous 12/05/2010 | | Both this movie and Attack of the Crab Monsters represent Roger "The Man" Corman at his best. The monstrous effects were quite impressive given the budget involved. Then there's my other favorite X: The Man with the X-ray Eyes. No special effects but the performance by Ray Milland and Don Rickles was superb. |
| | Only ? star, but should be in everybody's collection. | Bobo 11/20/2007 | | The invading alien is a turnip-shaped creature with crab-like claws and a face reminiscent of a evil-faced Halloween pumpkin carving. How can you NOT have a copy of this campy treat? (Also note that this movie sports and all-star cast -- uh, for the genre, that is... :) |
