Another film where ex-military men decide to take over when they're not happy with current policies–in this case, the cancellation of the "Star Wars" program.

If for no other reason than the spine-tingling car chase, this movie deserves viewing. Fortunately, it also has much more going for it. NYPD detective Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) visits Paris to uncover the source of a drug supply coming into the United States. Doyle ends up back in the Big Apple for the elevated train car chase. This film won the Best Picture Academy Award, and Gene Hackman and William Friedkin were also honored for Best Actor and Director. Awards were also given for Best Writing and Editing, and nominations were received for Best Supporting Actor (Roy Scheider) and Sound.

Based on Peter Benchley's novel, this blockbuster movie is about a shark that terrorizes the resort community of Amity Island. Now the safety of those on Amity Island lies in the hands of Police Chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider), ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss), and fisherman Quint (Robert Shaw). They board Quint's boat "The Orca" and hunt down the deadly creature. The filmmakers do a superior job of building suspense with music, camera angles, and a shark that doesn't appear until 82 minutes into the film. All performances add to the success of this classic film. The film won Oscars for Best Film Editing, Original Musical Score, and Sound–and was nominated for Best Picture.
