Red Ryder (Bill Elliott) and sidekick Little Beaver (Robert Blake) come to the aid of Red's aunt (Alice Fleming) by leading a wagon train with settlers to a small town. What they don't know is that the town has been evacuated by the citizens after hearing of a gold strike, and in the place of the town's officials a gang has set up shop awaiting the arrival of the settlers in order to get their money.
