He goes home and tells his mother (Shirley MacLaine) who recognizes Harry as her ex-husband and thinks she is responsible because she hit him with a bottle. Meanwhile, a hunter (Edmund Gwenn), also spots Harry and thinks he shot him while hunting. Others also believe they are the ones who are responsible for his death. To ensure that the authorities do not discover the body, the villagers get together and bury Harry. The trouble with Harry is that he is a corpse that just does not stay buried, and his body keeps popping up around town. Alfred Hitchcock, in a change for him, shows comic genius in directing this comedy. The film marks Shirley MacLaine's film debut.
