Rich American Robert Talbot (Rock Hudson) arrives at his Italian villa for a vacation in July rather than the usual September visit. That poses a problem for Maurice (Walter Slezak), the caretaker, since he runs the villa as a hotel when Robert is not there. But Robert's problems prove greater as he tries to stop his girlfriend Lisa (Gina Lollobrigida) from marrying another, and also finds himself acting as a chaperon for American girls who are being hounded by oversexed boys at his villa.
