As he searches for his identity, he is followed by assassins, and wherever he goes he is recognized. It appears that he may be a feared terrorist. This TV miniseries is a good (and faithful) rendition of Robert Ludlum's novel.

He immediately comes across a case of a handicapped young man who is found guilty of murder. But, on investigation, he finds out that the man was beaten into the confession by the police, and witnesses were beaten into providing the "correct" testimony. Because of this and other similar cases, he is targeted by the police for harassment. The corruption appears to go all the way up to the mayor's office.
