Hogan (Jack Lemmon), with help from Sgt. Yancy Skibo (Mickey Rooney), sneaks around and arranges for the party to be held at a local hotel managed by Mme. LaFour (Jeanne Manet). One of the nurses, Betty Bixby (Kathryn Grant), is Hogan's love interest, and she is not sure that the scheme will work.
