A very honest man, Kees Popinga (Claude Rains), finds that his boss Julius de Koster, Jr. (Herbert Lom) has been stealing from their Dutch trading company to support his French mistress Michele (Marta Toren). Kees' solution: steal the money himself to prevent his boss from getting his hands on it. Kees does get the money and boards a trans-European train to Paris. After arriving in Paris, he manages to become entangled with Michele. And, of course, problems lie ahead through a series of twists and turns.
