Alan refuses to discuss his missing brother Michael (Robert Mitchum), and as Ann tries to solve the mystery she begins to suspect that Alan murdered Michael. But, while visiting a ranch, Ann discovers that a man she has been questioning is, in fact, Michael. By now, problems lie deep and extend to Alan wanting to end the marriage.
