  Alexander (Richard Burton) ascends to the throne of Macedonia after his mother Olympius (Danielle Darrieux) has the king assassinated. Thus begins the wars that put Alexander at the head of most of the known world and ends with his death in 323 BC at the age of 32. The film concentrates on his battles, and CinemaScope photography aids in the realism.

The film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Actor (Broderick Crawford), and Supporting Actress (Mercedes McCambridge); nominations included Best Director and Supporting Actor (John Ireland).

  A matador, Luis Bello (Mel Ferrer), appears to be unbeatable in the ring. Problems arise when the woman he loves, Linda (Miroslava Stern) dies in a car accident. Bello suffers self-doubts, but his manager Ralph Fuentes (Anthony Quinn) encourages him. Bello does go back in the ring where he is gored by a bull. Now, Bello really begins to doubt his abilities but slowly regains his courage. This film captures the atmosphere surrounding the world of bullfighting.

  Paul Newman plays pool shark "Fast" Eddie Felson who yearns to beat Minnesota Fats (Jackie Gleason) for the thrill of hitting the big time instead of hustling in sleazy pool halls. Minnesota Fats: "No bar, no pinball machine. Just pool. This here is Ames, son." The story involves Eddie's match with Minnesota Fats and also covers his romance with alcoholic Sarah (Piper Laurie), his teaming up with backer Bert Gordon (George C. Scott), and the tragic trip to Louisville for a big match with Findlay (Murray Hamilton). The film received Oscar nominations in all of the top six categories (nine total), but won only two: Best Art Direction/Set Decoration and Cinematography.    1 User Review

Meanwhile, another patient, Stephen (Peter Fonda), commits suicide because Lilith will not pay attention to him. When Vincent realizes that he is in danger of losing his own sanity, he seeks help from psychiatrists. But, will it be too late? This is Gene Hackman's film debut.
