The Alamo 2004 PG-13, 135 min. Genre: Adventure

This film rates high for historical accuracy as it recreates events before, during, and after the 1836 siege at the Alamo when a group of Texans–including Davy Crockett (Billy Bob Thornton) and James Bowie (Jason Patric)–tried to hold off Santa Anna's Mexican forces. Inside the Alamo, they try unsuccessfully during a 13-day siege to defend the Spanish mission, and Sam Houston (Dennis Quaid) and his troops retaliate after the fall of the Alamo.

Boys Don't Cry 1999 R, 116 min. Genre: Drama / Romance
Director: Kimberly Peirce Cast: Hilary Swank, Chloe Sevigny, Peter Sarsgaard, Brendan Sexton III, Alison Folland, Alicia Goranson, Matt McGrath, Rob Campbell, Jeanetta Arnette, Cheyenne Rushing, Robert Prentiss, Josh Ridgway, Jerry Haynes, Craig Erickson, Stephanie Sechrist
This is a fictionalized account of the true facts behind the story of Brandon Teena (Hilary Swank), a woman living as a man and having the courage to be who he thought he was. At the age of 21, he was the object of an intensely brutal rape and murder, and Brandon's world came to an abrupt end. Brandon is also the subject of a 1997 documentary, "The Brandon Teena Story," which does a fine job of sticking with the truth in this tragedy. Hilary Swank won an Oscar for Best Actress and a nomination was received by Chloe Sevigny for Best Supporting Actress in her role as Lana who is Brandon's love interest.
