Frank is hired as the family chauffeur, and Diane fixes the car so that it goes over a cliff, but the accident kills not only Catherine but Diane's father Charles (Herbert Marshall) as well. Frank and Diane are now charged with murder. In an effort to sway the jury, Diane's lawyer (Leon Ames) suggests Diane and Frank marry, they do, and are acquitted. After being freed, Frank realizes that he cannot be married to a murderess and tells Diane that he is leaving her. Not a good move because Diane now puts the car into reverse, they fall over a cliff, and hurtle to their deaths.

Tony and Gabriella do not get along, and the show appears doomed until all involved decide that they must work together if the show is to be a hit on Broadway.
